World must work on peace, climate

By Letter to the Editor on August 14, 2019.

It was 74 years ago the U.S. dropped an atomic bomb on Japan and three days later a second one. Since then there has been talk of reducing the threat of nuclear war while more and more nations acquire them. Israel, Pakistan, India, China and North Korea are rogue nations that threaten enemies and world peace. Now the U.S. can be added to that list.

We ought to be working to slow climate change but must also ensure nobody ever uses nukes. Canada as a middle power could affect both. We owe it to our future generations. Let’s see what political parties say in the forthcoming election.

Good luck. Change needs to happen with powerfill countries you name. Canada can change but will not make any difference in any of the problems, to small.
