The Harambee Grandmas sincerely thank everyone in Lethbridge and southern Alberta who supported our Fabric and Yarn Sale, either by donating materials or by attending the sale in October.
Thank you to the board and staff of McKillop United Church for their ongoing support of our group and to Save On Foods in Centre Village Mall, whose donation of supplies to our first sale four years ago has continued to make the work of organizing the sale much easier. Thanks also to the “grand-others” for their help with the setup of the sale and to the Lethbridge Sun Times/Shopper for running an article on our project.
All unsold items have gone to local organizations and charities including Blankets for Canada, Days for Girls, MCC Thrift Store, the Salvation Army Thrift Store, the Mission Thrift Store, and the fashion design program at Winston Churchill High School and to groups who support those in our community who are in need.
All proceeds from the sale, which raised over $10,000, go to the Stephen Lewis Foundation’s Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign supporting grassroots projects to assist grandmothers raising children orphaned by the AIDS pandemic in sub-Saharan Africa. Thank you, everyone
for the Harambee Grandmas’ Fabric and Yarn Sale Committee
