Lethbridge is a helpful city

By Letter to the Editor on December 11, 2019.

Recently my colleague and I were in Lethbridge to present on the #LetsStopAgeism campaign and made many observations about your senior centres – LSCO and Nord-Bridge – and your beautiful city. We found the spaces to be welcoming, inclusive and positive. Participants were engaged and engaging and we cannot wait to see the campaign grow within your community.

We give special thanks to Pat Santa and Rob Miyashiro for their leadership and willingness to collaborate on age-friendly initiatives. It was an honour to take part in the Blanket Exercise hosted at the Galt Museum.

We also wish to thank the stranger who watched us struggling with our heavy suitcases in the new-fallen snow, in the dark. She offered us support exactly when we needed it.

Ready to help – that’s Lethbridge!

Glad you came. As you know Mr Myashiro is head of the LSCO, a City Councillor and Council’s delegate to the government’s Green Acres senior housing organization, so an apparent conflict of interest with his LSCO position. But still nice he seems to be doing his job.
