Why should feds consider fiscal help for Alberta?

By Letter to the Editor on December 19, 2019.

After engineering a bigger-than-necessary hole in government finances, our Premier Kenney has trundled over to Ottawa to beg or berate the federal government into providing cash relief for Alberta before wandering off with his braintrust retinue to travel to the U.K. for some expensive but questionable end.

But why would the feds give any quarter to Alberta? Kenney and Co. deliberately cratered provincial finances by blowing a nearly $5-billion hole in revenues that were used by corporations to buy back shares (and not create jobs here) or move to the U.S. (and not create jobs here). Surely the federal government must be wondering why any fiscal relief to Alberta wouldn’t be similarly squandered. Would any forthcoming federal monies just be diverted to further UCP corporate gifts, with no benefit to rank-and-file Albertans?

Let’s hope the UCP travel group enjoys their U.K. junket; no one else is benefiting from it. A small consolation for us is that we can enjoy the Canadian Energy Centre shilling for the oil and gas sector at our expense, and the Orwellian double-speak from the UCP supporting it.

David has nailed it. Now watch these poor ignorant Albertans come out to bash him and defend their new Liberal turned Reformer, never was a true Conservative hero Jason Kenney. They love to watch our money being wasted while our politicians enjoy themselves and put more and more people out of work. They enjoy being poor while they watch Alaska and Norway become richer and richer. They don’t care if he drives a lot more doctors , nurses, and teachers out of the province, they aren’t smart enough to understand that they could be putting their own life in danger by letting him do so. They are truly a pathetic group of human beings.

Not seeing quite as many comments from that veritable army of “ignorant Albertans” on here of late, but depressingly, and predictably, the answers to the paper’s daily questions continue to tell their tale.
Today they are staunchly and stupidly opposing climate science and scientists.
Yesterday they voted AGAINST Greta Thunberg as Time magazine’s person of the year, officially outing themselves as solid climate change deniers. And proud of it. Proud boys all.

IMO

Indeed, Tris Pargeter!

When the adherents of ‘Team Alberta’ can’t provide a logical facts based rebuttal, they do appear to be swarming to respond to click bait poll questions.

As lawyers have been saying for years these ignorant seniors have nothing to back their idiotic comments. Everything these Reformers have done has taken money out of their pockets and put their lives at risk. The problem is they out number the rest of us two to one and are taking all of us with them.

How is this comment from an “ignorant senior to backup real facts”?

So Fedup can we continue to watch you make up your own statistics in 2020 too?
https://open.alberta.ca/dataset/aa3bce64-c5e6-4451-a4ac-cb2c58cb9d6b/resource/ae2c77eb-3ce0-4f70-90a3-6a2329f49355/download/2019-q2-population-report.pdf

So based on actual facts (below) who tossed the NDP and brought in the CONS was not the “ignorant seniors” its your “Swarming Gender Confused” X/Yers who brought them back !
Seniors are 13.3% of Alberta Population Mr Fedup !
Of those 13.3% if you establish the standard rate of actual voting seniors you would find that less than 8% of Alberta’s Senior population actually voted (infirmed hospitalized and the I don’t care seniors removed). GEE thats going to be a tough one for you Fedup, but maybe you can make something else up next year?
500,000 seniors in a province of 4.7million are totally responsible for the NDP wipeout and not the other 4.2million XYZ right Fedup?

You obviously don’t read much Fedup, Alberta is the YOUNGEST PROVINCE in Confederation that has the highest wages that’s why Quebec lives off of the Alberta Teat!

Age structure
Statistics Canada’s second quarter population release also provides midyear
population estimates by age and sex.
-Alberta remained the youngest province
with an average age of 38.3 years as of July 1st, 2019. By comparison, the
average age of the national population was 41.2 years. Newfoundland and
Labrador had the oldest population in the country with an average age of 44.5
years. The variable age structures of jurisdictions across Canada are strongly
influenced by their ability to attract working‑age migrants and, to a lesser
extent, differences in fertility levels.
Relative to the national population,
-Alberta’s population is composed of greater
proportions of children and working‑age persons, and a smaller proportion
of seniors (Figure 2). In 2019, the working‑age population (15 to 64 years)
comprised 68.0% of Alberta’s population, compared to 66.5% of the Canadian
population.
-Seniors aged 65 and older were 13.3% of the Alberta population,
but 17.5% at the national level. The modal, or most common, age in the Alberta
population was 35 years, compared with 56 years in the Canadian population.

So let me get this straight. You think Kenney should be propelling us farther and farther into debt and spending like the Liberals, while at the same time, holding out his hand to the Feds saying gosh guys we’re broke? That makes a whole lot of sense to me, just like the “Seniors” voted in the CONS LOL
The largest turnout in Alberta History voted in 2019, a staggering 64%
“The modal, or most common, age in the Alberta population was 35 years, compared with 56 years in the Canadian population. “So Fedup, the fat part of the bellcurve in Alberta rotates around the age of 35 or “X”. The Treehugging “Y’s came out in full force in 2019.
So Fedup can you tell us again, who voted in the CONS, using your “Fedup magic math” please, I need a laugh. Why I have to call you out on your made up data and not others like Tris I will never know, oh wait, she wants to believe your data too!! Thats why lol

Maybe Fedup Conservative is consulting with his hyper intelligent lawyer friends on how 7% of the Alberta population elected the Conservatives and tossed the NDP after all it was their consultation with Fedup that came to this brilliant conclusion. In fact this “thinktank” was contemplating suing seniors for what they did to Alberta. Sure wish I knew who these lawyers were so I would be sure never to hire them, their research sucks much like Fedups.
