Rams open with sixth seed in Football Alberta Tier I rankings

As Football Alberta released its Week 1 rankings, the LCI Rams grabbed a road victory.

The Rams downed the Bellerose Bulldogs 33-22 Saturday afternoon in St. Albert.

That improves the Rams to 1-1 this season and gives them the sixth seed in the Tier I Football Alberta rankings.

On Saturday, Rams’ quarterback Crew Hirsche hit Zane Letourneau for a pair of touchdown receptions and then aired out an other TD strike to Carson Procee.

Hirsche also had a touchdown run, while Cardiff Burton kicked a field goal.

The Rams are home Friday night when they host Calgary St. Francis at the University of Lethbridge Stadium at 5 p.m.

In other southern Alberta Tier I rankings, the Raymond Comets were defeated 16-6 by Edmonton Harry Ainlay, who have snagged the top spot in Tier I in the opening week

The Comets take on Calgary Notre Dame next.

In Tier II, the Cardston Cougars grabbed fifth place following their 28-13 win over the Chinook Coyotes Friday night at the U of L Stadium.

The Cougars play Medicine Hat next.

The Taber W.R. Myers Rebels opened Week 1 with the second seed in the Football Alberta Tier IV rankings as they prepare for their first game of the season against the Claresholm Willow Creek Cobras Friday night in Claresholm at 7 p.m.

The Cobras are sixth in Tier IV after a 58-6 loss to Strathmore.

Southern Alberta High School Football League play continues Friday.

Following the LCI/St. Francis game, the Winston Churchill Bulldogs take on the Coyotes at 7:30 p.m.
