Traditional Christmas

By Submitted Article on December 21, 2019.

My parents were as poor as a church mouse during the late ’40s. They could not afford a Creche so they placed straw underneath the living room table.

Carolers would come on Christmas Eve even in the cold of winter and sang Christmas carols. They did not ask for money but enjoyed festive treats before they left to go to the next farm house.

I’ve seen a star in the eastern tide

And held an angel to my breast

As I would ride the trail

To a far-away land

And pay homage to our Holy Child “Jesus Christ”.
