Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) has seized drugs, guns and stolen property from a Lethbridge apartment building. Nine people were arrested.
ALERT Lethbridge, with the assistance of the Lethbridge Regional Police Service, executed two search warrants at a south Lethbridge apartment building on Feb. 20. The raids concluded a short-term investigation into suspected drug trafficking.
An estimated $25,000 worth of drugs were seized, which included 170 grams of hard and soft cocaine, 88 fentanyl pills, 94 ecstasy pills, 16 grams of methamphetamine, 130 grams of a buffing agent and $3,461 cash proceeds of crime.
A Colt handgun, several replica handguns, and other weapons were seized in the searches. ALERT also seized a variety of stolen property, including a 70-inch LED television. ALERT added it will be working with the LRPS to return the stolen property to its rightful owners.
According to ALERT, Jason Anthony Morin, 44, was the target of the investigation and was amongst the nine people arrested. Morin is accused of four counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, three counts of proceeds of crime, a single count of unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon, two counts of possession of stolen property and six counts of breach of a prohibited order.
An ALERTâ€ˆpress release indicated additional charges are being contemplated for the remaining suspects.
