A fire ban has been put in place for Lethbridge County.
County officials made the decision late Friday afternoon, as a press release stated conditions exist in the county that pose a heightened risk of fire spread due to high winds and dry vegetation.
The fire ban will cover all open fires in the county, excluding those fires which are contained in a cooking or heating appliance fueled by fluids or gasses. The declaration was made under the authority of the Lethbridge County Bylaw #1209.
All active fire permits are cancelled, according to the county, and no new fire permits will be issued until further notice.
