Lethbridge Regional Police Service continues to investigate a triple homicide in the Varsity Village neighbourhood.
Tuesday, just before 2:30 a.m., police located the bodies of three people — two men and one woman, inside a home along the 200 block of McGill Boulevard. Police had responded to the residence after a concerned neighbour requested officers check on the welfare of the occupants.
According to police, the victims have tentatively been identified as a 27-year-old man, a 24-year-old woman and an 18-year-old man, however police added their identities will not be released at this time, pending official confirmation. Further, while some family members have been contacted, police have not yet completed next-of-kin notifications.
Police said the deceased persons are victims of a targeted incident, and added it was not a random crime. There is no evidence to suggest any ongoing risk to neighbours or the general public, according to the LRPS.
Members of the Lethbridge Search and Rescue Association have been assisting police in a search of the area for evidence related to the crime and a portion of McGill Boulevard has been cordoned off since the early-morning hours.
Crisis Support Workers with the Victim/Witness Services Unit have also been providing support to family members of the victims, and the service will be providing after-care for first responders and other investigators.
Currently, there are no subjects in custody, and police added they will continue to work around the clock to bring the person or persons responsible for this crime to justice.
