Drivers heading back to work after the long weekend may notice a few delays on Whoop-Up Drive.
The City of Lethbridge will be conducting bridge rehabilitation work that will result in lane closures and speed limit reductions along Whoop-Up Drive over the next several months.
Starting Tuesday, May 19, the eastbound outside lane and westbound outside lane will be closed for bridge deck replacement and barrier rehabilitation work on Whoop-Up Drive. These single-lane closures will continue into July, according to the city.
Posted speed limits in work zones will be reduced to 50 km/h, and advance digital speed limit signs outside work zones will be reduced to 70 km/h for the duration of this rehabilitation project.
Weather permitting, the work schedule for Whoop-Up Drive lane closures will include the westbound outside lane (closed May 19-July 21), eastbound outside lane (closed May 19-July 8), westbound inside lane (closed July 21-Sept. 23), eastbound centre and inside lanes (closed July 8-Aug. 27, eastbound traffic will be reduced to one lane during this period).
