Oswaldo Arroyo is Alberta’s newest lottery millionaire.
The Lethbridge man found himself speechless when he checked his Lotto Max ticket and discovered he’d won a $1 million Maxmillions prize on the Friday, June 5 draw.
Arroyo bought his winning $25 ticket from Shoppers Drug Mart in Park Place, using winnings from the previous Lotto Max and Lotto 6/49 draw.
Following the draw, he got a printout of the results of the Lotto Max main draw and 50 Maxmillionsdraws, and took it home to carefully check his ticket.
Arroyo was amazed to see that one of his selections exactly matched one of the Maxmillions sets: 1, 5, 9, 25, 27, 33 and 37. With the only ticket sold across Canada to match those seven winning numbers in one line, he won $1 million.
“I was totally speechless,” he remembered. “When I could finally speak, I started telling my mother, ‘I won; I won!’”
Arroyo’s plans for his windfall include buying himself a truck and helping his family. He said the million-dollar win may also help him pursue his dream of going back to school, where he’d like to study computers.
