Police investigating apparent northside homicide, one subject in custody

Lethbridge Police are investigating an apparent homicide following an incident at a northside home Thursday night.

At about 9:40 p.m. last night, police responded to a report that a 54-year-old woman had been assaulted at a home along the 2300 block of 18 St. North. The woman was located inside the home with life-threatening injuries and transported to Chinook Regional Hospital.

Police officials say she died in hospital a short time later.

A 28-year-old woman was taken into custody at the scene, as a suspect, and the investigation is ongoing. Police remain on scene at the home.

An autopsy has been scheduled for this morning at the Medical Examiner’s Office in Calgary to confirm the cause of death.

Police say charges are pending. No further information is available for release at this time.
