Local professional photographers will be uniting to offer free high-quality family portraits to people in Lethbridge who, for a variety of reasons, might not be able to afford a family photo this holiday season.

The eighth annual Help-Portrait Day is a unique program that allows individuals and families in need to benefit from the collective professional creativity of more than 40 volunteers, photographers, lighting experts, makeup artists and stylists to receive a free portrait.

“Every year the impact of this event touches the hearts of the whole city,” says Steven Layton, event director. “We can’t wait to help more people this year. We have reach out to a number of community organizations to help us explain the Help-Portrait concept, and we are confident that people who can benefit from this experience will be able to take advantage of it.”

Help-Portrait is a worldwide movement that began in 2008 and has grown to more than 380,000 portraits that have been given by just over 75,000 photographers in 67 countries. Last year in Lethbridge, the event helped over 300 people, with a total of 100 families receiving family portraits.

The Help-Portrait Lethbridge event will take place on Nov. 10 from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. at Casa, 230 8 St. S. For more information on the event, how to sign up or how to get involved visit help-portrait.com.
