Losing a loved one or a pet is a difficult thing for anyone to deal with, but finding the right way to represent and remember their life is an important step to moving forward.

Calgary-based company Glass House Xperience creates beautiful hand-blown glass creations with the ashes of lost individuals incapsulated within the creation for a perfect keepsake for you and your family.

“I think that it is a nice keepsake,” says Mandy Patchin, Glass House Xperience owner. “With most people’s pets they just keep the ashes in a box somewhere and this is something that is a nice way to remember their animal or loved one.”

The company has been touring for the last year to meet with people and collect their ashes for the creations. People are able to choose from a variety of options to preserve someone’s life in including glass orbs, spires, vases, bowls and jewelry pendants, to customized creations.

“We feel that this is a sensitive topic so we like to do it face-to-face, so for the last year we have been travelling all the way through B.C. to Manitoba collecting ashes in small cities and towns,” says Patchin. “We collect the ashes from loved ones who have passed on or pets from clients around the community and we take those back to Calgary where our home base is and we make memorial pieces of all different shapes and sizes, then we bring them back.”

Glass House Xperience travels through cities all the time, and is happy to offer a pickup and delivery service to towns and cities across Canada. For more information on how you can incorporate ashes into art, visit their website ghxperience.com to see their wide range of memorial pieces.
