Arrest made after Taber bomb threats

Following an investigation of multiple threats in Taber at multiple locations over the last few days, Taber Police announced the arrest of an adult male in Illinois, U.S. for 10 counts of felony bomb threats.

Three schools in Taber received a phone call from the individual, stating there was a bomb in the school. As a result of the threat, police and school protocols were initiated and the children and staff were placed in safe areas. All three schools were examined and no threat was determined. A local business also received two similar calls which prompted the evacuation of the store.

The Taber Police Service thanked the Medicine Hat Police Service, the United States Department of Home Land Security ICE and the Jackson County Sheriffs Department in Illinois for their efforts in this investigation.

The results of the investigation helped demonstrated the commitment and abilities of local law enforcement and partnerships necessary to ensure safe communities. Taber Police say they are proud of the officers and their 24/7 efforts to bring the investigation to a successful conclusion.

Taber Police also thank the Taber Fire Department for their assistance and professionalism during the situation and investigation.
