Wildfires are increasingly a danger in Alberta – but what can be done to limit their impact?
That’s the focus of the next “FreeU” public event, to be held at 7 p.m., Tuesday at the Telegraph Taphouse.
Geography professor Laura Chasmer and members of the public will consider why they have increased dramatically over the last 20 years and are expected to continue to increase.
They’ll also explore why more forest areas are burning, how that impacts Canadians – and how the situation might be managed.
“Join us for a beer, view some pyrogenic field photographs and let’s think about what we can do to reduce the community effects of wildfire,” she says.
The interactive talk is part of the “FreeU” series, an initiative of the faculty of the University of Lethbridge. Everyone is welcome.
