Lethbridge Police are investigating an alleged armed robbery at a northside bar early on Remembrance Day.
On Monday, just after 12:30 a.m., police say an unknown man armed with a knife entered the Flamingo bar along the 1700 block of 23 Street North and demanded cash. A male staff member initially refused and the subject proceeded to chase him around the bar with the knife until he agreed to open the till, police said in a news release Tuesday.
An undisclosed amount of money was subsequently stolen and the subject fled on foot, but nobody was injured, police say.
The subject is described by police as an aboriginal male, about five-foot-10, in his 30s, with an average build, blemished or dry skin and a raspy voice. He was wearing a thick black winter jacket with the hood up, black sunglasses and a black handkerchief with white accents covering his mouth, police say.
Anyone who may have been in the area at the time and observed suspicious activity or has information about the robbery, is asked to call police at 403-328-4444 or Crime Stoppers 1-800-222-8477. Anonymous tips can also be submitted online at http://www.p3tips.com.
