LETHBRIDGE HERALD – BROCKET
A Pincher Creek man died following a head-on collision Tuesday on Highway 3. Piikani RCMP say preliminary investigation shows the eastbound car collided with a cattleliner about 15 kilometres east of Brocket.
Its driver and lone occupant, a 75-year-old man who is not being identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say the truck’s driver was not injured.
Highway conditions were reported icy and snow covered at the time, they add.
Meanwhile, police are investigating a highway incident that sent a Lethbridge man to hospital.
Coaldale and Picture Butte RCMP, along with the Coalhurst Fire Department, responded to a pedestrian collision along Highway 25 near Township Road 92. A 43-year-old man was walking north, police say, when he was struck by a northbound half-ton truck.
The pedestrian was thrown into the east ditch, sustaining injuries, and was taken by ambulance to the Chinook Regional Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
All possible factors are being considered in the investigation, police add. The pedestrian was wearing dark clothing on a dark stretch of the highway, they say. Weather was clear and road conditions were dry.
