Santa is coming to Lethbridge.
He’ll be greeted soon at Centre Village Mall by a “mountain” of toys.
Lethbridge-area families are invited to start building that “mountain” now, with unwrapped toys to given before Christmas to families in need.
And they’re invited to greet Santa when he arrives at 11 a.m. on Dec. 7. He’ll be hearing children’s wishes daily except Sundays until Dec. 21.
Santa’s hours will be 1 to 4 p.m. from Monday to Wednesday in the first week, then from 2 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday and Friday. On the following Saturdays – Dec. 14 and 21 – he’ll start earlier, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and then 3 to 6 p.m.
During the week before Christmas, mall officials say Santa will be meeting children from 2 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Photos with Santa will be free, they add, but donations will be accepted in support of the Family Centre.
The toys, for young people up to 17 years old, will be distributed through the Christmas Hope Campaign operated jointly by local food banks, the Salvation Army and others.
As part of the Christmas campaign, the Interfaith Food Bank has created “The Gift of Giving” initiative for business owners, professionals and others. It encourages a gift to the food bank, in the name of those who might otherwise be given small gifts of appreciation.
As part of that program, Interfaith reports Hobgoblin Holdings has made a large donation on behalf of its tenants in the Plaza 1 building on 13 Street North, the strip mall including Reddhart Work Wear on 2 A Avenue North, and the Hobgoblin Logistics facility on 28 Street North.
