A Lethbridge-only music program – and the Canadian Red Cross – will benefit from a Dec. 17 concert by middle school students.

G.S. Lakie, Gilbert Paterson and Wilson middle schools will co-present “Rockin’ for the Red Cross” as a fundraiser. It’s to be held at G.S. Lakie Middle School, 50 Blackfoot Rd. W., just off Whoop-Up Drive.

The 7 p.m. concert will feature popular music bands from each of the Lethbridge School Division middle schools. As well as raising funds, the event will also raise awareness of the middle school music programs.

“These programs are unique and truly are based in 21st century music education outcomes,” says Sheldon Avray, music education specialist at Lakie. “Many of these outcomes are exclusive to Lethbridge School Division.”

The concert will be held in the school’s convertible theatre, with all welcome. Tickets will be $5 at the door, or they can be purchased in advance at SchoolCashOnline.
