Campaigns aid local food banks

LETHBRIDGE HERALD

Lethbridge Public Library is teaming up with our local food banks to encourage community members with library fines on late items to participate with the Food for Fines program, which continues until Dec. 15.

During the campaign, community members with late fines can donate food for our local food banks instead of paying the fines to the library. Donations are applicable to late fines, however, they cannot be used in place of lost items or other account charges.

Donations of non-perishable food items are gratefully accepted, and the library encourages donations that are within date, not past expiry, for the most benefit to local food banks.

Each food item donated will equate to $5 off library fines (four ramen packages will account for one item).

Donations will be accepted at the Main Branch, 810 5 Ave. S.; at the Crossings Branch, 255 Britannia Blvd. West; and on the Bookmobile at its various stops around the city.

Meanwhile, the AMA Fill Our Fleet campaign continues until Monday, with proceeds going to local food banks.

Donations of funds or non-perishable food items can be made in person at any AMA location; online on the AMA website or http://www.canadahelps.org/en/pages/ama-fill-our-fleet-campaign/; or at local food bank websites by selecting #fillourfleet.
