Lethbridge library to again offer free membership in 2020

Lethbridge residents will continue to benefit from no-fee membership at their library.

The city’s library board has approved funds to offset the loss of membership fees previously collected.

“Our board sees the value in working to establish access for all to the library, and its resources and materials,” says board chair Allan Quinton.

The impact of eliminating fees was demonstrated by a significant increase in memberships during 2019, the board noted.

“Membership fees provide a significant barrier to many, and eliminating fees ensures that all residents are able to access the library’s physical and virtual services equally,” Quinton says.

“The Lethbridge Public Library is a welcoming, inclusive space that works to connect and strengthen our community through equitable access to learning and leisure, and this opportunity only reinforces that.”

The staff are great and the Commissionaires are great! The problem being all the hookers, dealers and pimps that hang out at the main library downtown. Even the ‘John’s” can be seen picking up the hookers in the parking lot or just across the street!
I wouldn’t let my grandkids near there! I often wonder why they allow it!!!
