Direct Energy assists Family Centre

By Sulz, Dave on December 20, 2019.

Direct Energy and Direct Energy Regulated Services recently announced a $3,500 donation to Family Centre Society of Southern Alberta (Family Centre). The cheque was presented at Direct Energy’s holiday kick-off event Dec. 8 at The Movie Mill, where the entire community, including special guests from Family Centre, were invited to enjoy a free holiday movie with family and friends.

Direct Energy and Direct Energy Regulated Services are committed to directing energy to what matters, especially when it comes to building healthier communities by supporting Alberta families. This donation will directly help fund the programs that Family Centre offers to the public, whether it’s early childhood education or providing important parenting resources to new Canadians.

“Direct Energy is passionate about partnering with organizations that share our dedication to strengthening the local community by fostering positive relationships and providing resources to those who need it most,” Gary Newcombe, vice-president, Government and Regulatory Affairs, Direct Energy, said in a news release. “We are proud to partner with Family Centre to help create positive futures in Lethbridge.”

Family Centre Society of Southern Alberta is a non-profit organization that provides a comprehensive range of services to children, youth and families through programs, resources and connections. Programs offered by Family Centre include interactive classes for toddlers and children; early literacy, learning and care; family support services such as counselling; and developmental screening. The society also offers family education programs, providing parents and parents-to-be with classes on positive parent-child communication, parenting through separation and divorce, and specialized classes for new Canadians.
