Christmas carols will be part of the celebration today, along with Shakespeare-inspired music from West Side Story.
Mince pies, shortbread cookies and mulled wine will also be shared during the annual “Shakespeare Meets Dickens” evening at Casa.
The Lethbridge Shakespeare Performance Society presents the seasonal event, open to all interested. This year’s features include a readers’ theatre version of “A Christmas Carol,” written by University of Lethbridge drama professor emeritus Richard Epp.
“It’s a great way to fully dive into Christmas,” says spokesperson Kate Connolly.
The evening will also include scenes and songs from Shakespeare-related shows including “Kiss Me Kate” and “The Boys from Syracuse” as well as Leonard Bernstein’s classic “West Side Story.”
Advance tickets for the evening are available for $20 per person at Casa. Participants are encouraged to wear “approximations” of Tudor or Victorian attire.
