Lots of activities in city for New Year’s Eve celebration

With the coming of the new decade, Lethbridge is gearing up for many events to help people of all ages celebrate the new year.

Family friendly events happening New Year’s Eve include a party at the Polish Hall, 743 13 Street N., starting at 6 p.m. and homemade Polish food at 7 p.m. There will be two DJs playing a variety of music throughout the night, with tickets beginning at $45 per person. Italian Canadian Club who will be hosting a party starting at 6 p.m. with cocktails and dinner being served at 7 p.m. Music by Bamboo Guppies will be playing and a balloon drop at midnight. This is a member only event with tickets being $50 per person.

The German Canadian Club will also be hosting a dance at 902 6 St. N., starting at 6 p.m., with dinner being served at 7 p.m. and a dance following. Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden is opening their facility to welcome the community to help them celebrate Joya No Kane with Reverend Izumi at the Buddhist Temple of Southern Alberta. Nikka Yuko will be open from 6 p.m. until midnight, with the Koya No Kane ceremony beginning at 11 p.m. All are welcome to join the ceremony and ring the bell 108 times, which represents the number of earthly desires that afflict and pain the human heart, as it is said that these earthly desires vanish one after another upon hearing each ring.

Lethbridge Electronic Music Festival (LEMF) will be hosting their eighth annual NYE Fundraiser at Boss Pub. Entry to the event is a minimum $15 donation, with all of the proceeds going towards their annual summer festival. Music for the night will be supplied from Toast, a DJ from Medicine Hat, Phunky Le Freq from Lethbridge, and Cricksta from Lethbridge. This event is only for 18 years or older.

Swing Bridge Dance Community is joining Designed to Dwell and Johnny Bean Coffee to host a Roaring Twenties NYE party with live music and food throughout the night. The event takes place at 418, 13 St. N. from 8 p.m. until 2 a.m. General tickets for the event are $50 per person, with a VIP Bundle costing $65. Tickets are available online at SwingBridge.ca/NYE.

LA Chefs will be hosting their New Year’s Eve 2020 Gala at the Coast Lethbridge Hotel & Conference Centre. Cocktails will be served at 6 p.m. with dinner following at 7 p.m. Throughout the night there will be music from Cal Toth, party favours, champagne and great food. Tickets for the event are $85 per person and are available by contacting 403-320-7702. The Coast Hotel will also be offering a “Take the Elevator Home” rates starting at $99.

For some nightclub entertainment on New Year’s Eve, Sound Garden will be hosting their annual bash, Hudsons Canada Pub will host their event, Average Joe’s Sports Bar, Owl Acoustic Lounge, Good Times Comedy Club, and Mojo’s Pub will all be having events throughout the evening.

Operation Red Nose will be running for one of their final nights to get people home safe from their holiday parties. Donations are accepted to get you, your friends and family, as well as your vehicle home safe to take drunk drivers off the road.
