Property tax assessments in mail

Lethbridge Herald

Up or down? Lethbridge property owners will soon know if their assessment has changed over the last year. City of Lethbridge property assessment notices are in the mail.

Officials say assessment notices were mailed to all residential and commercial property owners on Friday. If any owner hasn’t received their notice by Jan. 13, they’re urged to call 311 – or 403-320-3111 from outside Lethbridge – to get a copy.

Each year’s property taxes are based on the property’s assessed value and the mill rate set by city council.

Questions about the property assessments can be handled by assessment office staff, also by calling 311 or by email at assessment@lethbridge.ca.

If a property owner has met with a City assessor but isn’t satisfied with the assessed value of their property, a formal complaint can be filed prior to the appeal deadline.

More information about the property assessment process in Lethbridge is available at http://www.lethbridge.ca/assessment.

Lethbridge property owners can also view the status of property assessments and sign up to receive their tax notice by ebill in May, through MyCity at Lethbridge.ca/MyCity.
