Lethbridge Police Service have arrested a 31-year-old Lethbridge man, after a previous apprehension attempt following a stolen vehicle at a southside convenience store.
On Thursday, police attempted to apprehend a male who had stolen a white Ford F350 at a southside convenience store. When the male refused to stop for police, no further attempts to apprehend him were taken due to public safety concerns.
Friday, police received numerous calls regarding the same stolen vehicle as it was involved with three separate hit and runs on the south side of Lethbridge. The heavily damaged vehicle was able to make it to Coaldale where the same individual stole a second Ford half-ton and made his way back to Lethbridge. Police attempted to apprehend the male again but he fled. The vehicle was later recovered abandoned a short distance away.
Later that evening, while conducting patrols in the area, police located and arrested 31 year old Daniel McFadden of Lethbridge, without incident inside the Safe Injection Site.
McFadden is currently in custody awaiting a hearing on multiple charges, including two counts of possession of stolen property over $5,000, possession of stolen property under $5,000, three charges for failing to stop, resisting arrest, four counts of failing to comply with release conditions, two counts of driving a vehicle with no insurance, and possession of break and enter tools.
The investigation is still ongoing in regards to the hit and runs and additional charges will be issued at the completion of the investigation.
