Two charged following bust by Crime Suppression Team

Two men are facing charges after members the Lethbridge Police Crime Suppression Team seized drugs and stolen property from a downtown residence this week.

On Thursday, following a short-term investigation into drug trafficking activity, a warrant was obtained and executed by the CST, Downtown Policing Unit and K9 at a residence along the 300 block of 5 Street South, police said in a news release Friday.

Upon entry, police say they located two men and seized methamphetamine, crack cocaine, scales, packaging and other drug paraphernalia along with multiple stolen identity documents.

Jeffrey Steven Martens, 51, of Lethbridge, is charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, four counts of possession of identity documents and one count of possession of stolen property. Eric Joel Michaud, 34, of Lethbridge, is charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Both were in custody Friday awaiting a Judicial Interim Release hearing.
