In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Gas King Lethbridge will be the first to install one of two Grip Hero products at all of their stations, to offer another way to protect their clients and help reduce the spread.

Gas King will be the first in Alberta to bring in the U.K. manufactured product from Keller Equipment Supply, who is a Western Canadian based distributor, specializing in service station and industrial products.

Grip Hero offers customer protection as it provides drivers with the convenience of safety wear at the point of fuel delivery. The gas pump will have plastic hand bags that are removed through the handle to cover hands while handling the pumps. This product eliminates direct-safety risks in the fuelling zone, as it is the world’s only anti-static ATEX-certified hand protection.

Fuel pumps are 11,000 times dirtier than a toilet seat and can be contaminated with notifiable organisms. This technology will help eliminate the spread of various diseases such as COVID.

Grip Hero is also highly effective through their carbon footprint as they use 45 per cent less plastic material, and for an annual carbon footprint of hand-protection for an average forecourt, using Grip Hero is reduced by over 75 per cent, compared to standard gloves.

As Gas King Lethbridge is the first in the province to implement this new technology for staff and customer safety, they continue to improve their practices to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, as well as other illnesses and diseases.
