Six people charged in Galt Gardens group assault

Six people are facing charges from Lethbridge Police in connection with the assault of a 47-year-old man.

On Monday at about 11:30 p.m. police responded to a report of a large disturbance in Galt Gardens and located an injured male. A female bystander advised she recorded the altercation on her phone and provided a copy of the video to police. EMS attended and treated the victim for non-life threatening injuries.

Upon reviewing the video, which depicted a group of people assaulting a male in the street, police were able to identify the subjects responsible. Over the course of the night six people were arrested and subsequently charged.

Investigation determined the assault was precipitated by a verbal exchange between the victim and a group of people in the park who were unknown to him, police said in a news release.

Alden Jacque Blackplume, 54, of Lethbridge, is charged with assault. He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 13.

Ernest Charles Crane Chief, 48, of Lethbridge, is charged with assault and failing to comply with release conditions. He was released from custody to appear in court Aug. 13.

Dustin Courtney Okimaw, 33, of Lethbridge, is charged with assault, assaulting a peace officer (kicked an officer in the stomach and leg), obstructing a peace officer, resisting a peace officer and failing to comply with release conditions. Okimaw was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.

Angela Dawn Spearchief, 28, of Lethbridge, is charged with assault. She was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 13.

Ruby Standing Alone, 46, of Lethbridge, is charged with assault. She was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 13.

Billy Reginald Wolf Child, 34, of Lethbridge, is charged with assault. He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 13.
