By Jensen, Randy on October 17, 2020.

The Lethbridge Sport Council is launching its free loanable sport, physical activity and active recreation kits today from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Visitor Information Centre at 2805 Scenic Dr. S. as part of Tourism Lethbridge’s Kick off to Winter.

The Lethbridge Sport Council booth and play zone will be set up. People are urged to sign up their families to borrow one of LSC’s nine sport and physical activity kits including: sport exploration; Olympic sport; multicultural physical activity; adaptive play; and winter fun.

Visitors can learn about and challenge a friend to a traditional Snow Snakes game. Roving gyms are back indoors for winter and people can try out some of the physical literacy equipment and sign up for free.

Alberta Health Services COVID-19 guidelines will be followed.

Regional outdoor winter sport organizations and businesses will be on hand. Children aged six to 10 can check out snowboarding on a grass course, presented by Pass Powderkeg, in partnership with Alberta Snowboard.

Learn about the gear and programs from Pass Powderkeg Ski Area and meet Uplift Adventures and Boarderline Skate and Snow. There will also be information from Castle Mountain Ski Resort.
