MONTREAL — A third union representing workers in Montreal’s public transit network has announced it will go on strike.
Maintenance workers walked off the job three times since June, and bus and metro drivers are to strike this weekend.
Now it’s the union representing about 1,316 administrative, technical and professional employees that says its members will strike Nov. 19.
However, Quebec’s labour tribunal has ruled that 33 members of that union must be available Nov. 19 to maintain public health and safety in the network.
Meanwhile, mediation continues between the transit agency and the union representing some 4,500 bus drivers and metro operators.
The two are negotiating in the hope of averting the two-day strike scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.
