Telus is experiencing a cellphone outage that is affecting the ability of Alberta customers to call 911.
The communities of Red Deer, Airdrie, Clearwater County and Rockyford have each put out information alerts saying Telus Mobility customers aren’t able to call for emergency help.
They are asking people to use a landline or go to the nearest emergency services station, fire station or RCMP detachment if they need help.
The alerts say the outage is affecting Telus Mobility customers across the province.
Telus says on its website that it has been experiencing network congestion across the country.
It says it’s working to resolve the Alberta issue as soon as possible.
