1918 – 2016

Mr. Andrew Sherman of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Mrs. Ada Sherman, passed away at Age Care Columbia Assisted Living on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at the age of 98 years. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00PM on Friday, April 22, 2016 at SOUTHMINSTER UNITED CHURCH, 1011 4 Ave S, Lethbridge, AB, with Reverend James Grunden, officiating.

Ella I. McColl

1926 – 2016

Ella Irene Livingston McColl passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Sunday, April 17, 2016 at the age of 89 years. Born and raised in Lethbridge, Alberta, she attended Elementary School and finished High School at LCI. She enjoyed very much going to Galbraith’s 100th year anniversary in 2013. Her lifelong career was for Mountain Minerals Co. and she retired after 45 years of service. Ella was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church. She loved going to Waterton and her many trips to Hawaii. She loved reading, walking, the “great outdoors” and had a large collection of Ella-phants and don’t forget MacDuff. Ella will be lovingly remembered and will be dearly missed by her family and many friends. She was known for her kind nature, smile and friendliness. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, April 22, 2016 at the FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH, 1614 5 Ave. S., Lethbridge, AB, with Dr. Bruce Martin officiating. Cremation has taken place.

FRANCIS

With sad hearts we announce the passing of EDITH FRANCIS, beloved mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother, on April 13, 2016 at Calgary, Alberta.

Edith, the daughter of Calvin and Irene Fletcher, was born Oct. 15, 1927 in Logan, Utah; the ninth child of Calvin and the first child of Irene. She grew up loving music and studied violin for most of her life. Edith attended Utah State Agricultural College (now USU) studying music and art, where she met Ronald Lee Francis, of Taber, Alberta, who was studying Civil Engineering. They were married in the Logan temple Oct. 5, 1948, following which they settled in Lethbridge, Alberta, where they raised 10 children. Edith was active in LDS Church activities and for many years played her violin in the Lethbridge Symphony Orchestra and Southern Alberta Chamber Orchestra. She loved to travel and took numerous trips with her family, including a sojourn in Colombia, South America, where Ron worked on an irrigation feasibility study for a year, and later accompanied him for 3 months in Jamaica. When Ron retired they moved to Raymond until his passing in 1994, whereupon she returned to Lethbridge, then later to Calgary, where she has resided for the past 14 years.

She is survived by her 10 children: Bryan (Barbara Roxborough) of Calgary, Mardene of Calgary, Loren Joel (Luva Affleck) of Nampa, Idaho, Sara Jean (Richard Chatelain) of Salt Lake City, Ut, Lauralee (Robert G. Hatch) of Black Hawk, South Dakota, Leon Keith (Clairlyn Frome) of Farmington, Ut., Elizabeth (George Peterson) of Calgary, AB, Rosanna of Magrath, AB, Marianne (Doug Mabey) of Casper, Wyoming, and Timothy Ronald (Wendy Russell) of Calmar, AB; 43 grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren, and 46 great grandchildren, plus 2 brothers and 2 sisters in Utah.

Friends may meet the family on Friday, April 22 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at CHRISTENSEN SALMON GENERATIONS FUNERAL HOME, 703-13 Street North, Lethbridge, or prior to the funeral service on April 23 at the church from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m.

The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, MOUNTAIN HEIGHTS CHAPEL, 175 Rocky Mountain Blvd. West. Lethbridge.

Interment to follow in the Mountain View Cemetery, Lethbridge.

1938 – 2016

Mrs. Inez Kelly of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Mr. William Kelly, passed away at the St. Michael’s Palliative Care Centre on Monday, April 18, 2016 at the age of 77 years. Funeral arrangements to be announced when completed.

Ken Lawson
1941 – 2016
The community of Taber, lost one of its favorite sons on January 16, 2016 with the passing of longtime resident and community member Kenneth Bryan Lawson. Known to his friends and family as Ken, he passed away peacefully at the age of 74 years at the Taber Health Centre on the morning of the sixteenth after a long struggle with complications from COPD.
The Burial Service will be held at the Taber Memorial Garden, one kilometer north of 64 Avenue on 50 Street, Taber on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 1:30 P.M.
