A little bit of late offence wasn’t enough to keep Lethbridge South West Little League’s run Canadian Little League Baseball Championships going.
The Alberta representatives were edged 7-6 by Ontario as they attempted to force a tie-breaker Thursday in Mirabel, Que.
South West Little League trailed 4-1 after five innings, but pounded out five runs in the top of the sixth to take a 6-4 lead.
But Ontario responded with some late bats of their own, putting up three runs in their half of the sixth to earn the win and advance to the semfinals, while Lethbridge wraps up the week at 1-4.
On Thursday, South West outhit Ontario 10-7 as Daillon Kryzanowski led the way, batting 3-for-4 with one run scored.
Brennan McTavish was 2-for-3 with one run scored and Carter Capton was 2-for-4.
Joseph Seo took the loss for South West, throwing two and one-third innings, allowing four runs on four hits, walking two and striking out two.
Capton got the start for Lethbridge, going three innings and surrendering three runs on three hits, walking five and striking out five.
