Catholic Central Cougars open season with sweeps

Amaya Perry had nine kills while adding one block and one ace as the Catholic Central Cougars senior girls swept a 3-0 match from Lethbridge Collegiate Institute in Southern Alberta High School Volleyball League play Tuesday night.

The Cougars recorded victories of 25-17, 25-18, 25-13.

Jana Dyck added six kills for the winners while Charlotte Perry had four kills and three digs.

In junior varsity play, CCH posted victories of 25-17, 25-18, 25-12.

In other matches, Chinook Coyotes needed four games to put away W.R. Myers of Taber, winning 25-19, 21-25, 25-12, 25-20.

Abi Groenhage had seven kills and two aces, while Shaelyn Sauter had eight kills and one ace.

Sophie Simek had nine kills and two blocks for W.R. Myers.

In the junior game, Shyanne Howe had nine kills and six aces as Chinook swept to a 3-0 victory. Ainsley deBoer had eight kills and three aces as Chinook scored 25-17, 25-15, 25-12 decisions.

St. Mary’s of Taber swept to victories over Kate Anderews of Coaldale, 25-18, 25-22, 25-22 in the senior match, and 25-15, 25-18 in the junior tilt.
