The final eight have been determined in the Southern Alberta High School Volleyball League Senior Girls Post-season Tournament following the completion of opening round play on Wednesday.
The LCI Clippers were in tough before emerging with a 3-2 victory over the Cardston Cougars on Wednesday. Clippers won the opening set 25-17 only to have the Cougars rattle off a pair of wins 25-10, 25-13. Clippers rebounded with a tough 25-23 victory to force a fifth set, which they won 15-8.
LCI will play No. 2 seed and host Chinook Coyotes in the quarter-finals on Friday at 6 p.m.
In other action, Taber W.R. Myers Rebels swept past the Immanuel Christian Eagles, but it took a huge effort as the Rebels outlasted the Eagles 29-27, 26-24 and 26-24.
Rebels will play No. 4 seed Taber St. Mary’s Auroras in Friday’s quarter-finals at 8 p.m.
Also advancing were the Coaldale Kate Andrews Pride, who swept the Picture Butte Sugar Queens 3-0 by scores of 25-16, 25-14 and 26-24.
Pride will play No. 3 Winston Churchill Griffins at 8 p.m. on Friday.
The other quarter-final Friday will have No. 1 Catholic Central Cougars playing No. 8 Raymond Comets at 6 p.m.
Action continues Saturday with the semifinals at 10 a.m. and noon followed by bronze medal match at 2 p.m. The gold medal match is set for 4 p.m.
All games are at Chinook.
