While the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns women’s hockey team is on the semester break for Christmas, they’ve remained busy off the ice.
Pronghorns head coach Michelle Janus announced the second commitment to the 2019-20 recruiting class with the signing of Red Deer Sutter Fund Chief forward Sage Sansregret.
The Consort product is in her second season with the Sutter Fund Chiefs in the Alberta Female Hockey League and through 19 games this season, Sansregret has accumulated two goals and two assists.
“We’re excited to add a player like Sage to our roster. Her personality and work ethic will add depth to our roster,” said Janus. “We believe her skill set will complement many of our current players as she’s able to execute a responsible 200-foot game and generate offence in all zones.”
Last season, the five-foot-six forward helped the Chiefs to third place in the regular season standings, picking up four goals and five assists in 30 games.
Sansregret joins Lloydminster PWM Steeler defender Brooklyn Palmer as the first two players to commit to the Pronghorns for the 2019-20 season.
The Pronghorns return to Canada West play the first weekend in January, travelling to Regina to face the Regina Cougars.
