The Lethbridge Lightning remain locked in the tight battle for second place in the Ranchland Hockey League.
The senior men’s team helped their cause last weekend with a 12-0 shutout of the Kainai Braves Saturday in Standoff as goaltender Cole Schafer earned the shutout.
The win moves the Lightning to 12-3 and keeps them tied with the 11-4-0-2 Siksika Buffaloes, who Lethbridge has two games in hand on.
Cole Matson, Ashton Zintel, Nicholas Mottl and James Price each scored twice in Saturday’s road win. Jesse Wellsch, Nic Bohle, Calvin Swanson and Cam Hurt added the other Lightning goals.
Lethbridge is back home for two games this weekend.
The homestand begins Friday against the Piikani Broncs (3-13-0-0) at 8:30 p.m. at Nicholas Sheran Arena.
On Saturday, the battle for second heats up as the Buffaloes pay a visit to Nicholas Sheran Arena, also at 8:30 p.m.
