Steel advance in WWCFL playoffs
The Lethbridge Steel women’s football team are next-round-bound in the Western Women’s Canadian Football League playoffs.
The Steel defeated the Calgary Rage 27-21 in WWCFL conference quarter-final play Saturday in Calgary and now advance to the cross-conference semifinals June 22.
Lethbridge’s opponent is yet to be determined.
In Alberta Major Soccer League play, the Lethbridge Football Club women’s team lost 3-1 to the Edmonton Scottish Angels Saturday at the Servus Sports Centre, while the LFC men’s team was 2-0 on the road, defeating the St. Albert Impact 3-1 Saturday and the Edmonton Scottish 4-1 Sunday.
In American Legion baseball action Sunday, the Lethbridge Elks were topped 14-11 by the Helena Senators in double header play at Spitz Stadium. The Elks won the first game 6-2. See Tuesday’s Herald for the wrap ups.
