Hurricanes make trade for forward

The Lethbridge Hurricanes have traded a defenceman for a forward.

The club announced Tuesday they had acquired 19-year-old forward Dino Kambeitz and a fourth-round pick in the 2021 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft from the Victoria Royals in exchange for 18-year-old defenceman Nolan Jones.

Kambeitz, 19, was drafted by the Royals in the fifth round and 90th overall in the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft.

The forward from Parker, Colorado played in 67 regular season games with the Royals in 2018-19, scoring nine goals and 25 points.

He added five goals and seven points in 10 playoff games.

In 138 regular-season games with the Royals, Kambeitz has 20 goals and 43 points and eight points in 13 career playoff games.

Prior to going to Victoria, Kambeitz spent two seasons at the Edge School in Calgary.

Jones, 18, was drafted by the Canes in second round and 41st overall in the 2016 draft.

He appeared in 58 career games with the Hurricanes, posting 13 points (two goals and 11 assists) and 49 penalty minutes, adding one assist in eight playoff games.
