The Lethbridge Bullets soccer team reached the final of the Whitefish Soccer Tournament.
They didn’t win, but nonetheless brought home an accomplishment.
The Bullets lost 3-1 to the host Montana Rapids in the final Sunday afternoon, marking the first time since 1994 a Lethbridge team made it to the gold medal game.
In Sunday’s final, the Rapids went up 3-0 early before Bullet Joe Gentille provided Lethbridge’s goal.
The teams traded chances in the second half, but neither side found the back of the net the rest of the way.
The Bullets made the final following a shootout win over Spokane in the semifinal.
After Lethbridge scored on their five attempts, goaltender Bruce Primeau turned away Spokane’s final shooter for the win and berth in the final.
“Our defenders played great all weekend,” said team manager Roberto Paoletti. “Our goalkeeper came up big in the final 10 minutes of the semifinal and kept us in it by making four key saves.”
