The University of Lethbridge Pronghorns men’s and women’s Two Guys and a Pizza Place Pronghorn Athletes of the Week come straight from the pitch.

Taking home this week’s honours are soccer players Colette Mofakham and David Musk.

As the Pronghorns women’s team continues to battle for Canada West post-season contention, Mofakham provide the offensive spark as the Horns hosted the Saskatchewan Huskies and the Regina Cougars Saturday and Sunday at the U of L Stadium.

Mofakham, a third-year midfielder, scored in the 90th minute for her first goal of the season to secure a 1-1 tie with the Huskies Saturday afternoon.

On Sunday against the Cougars, Mofakham scored in the 25th minute for the only Horns goal and another 1-1 tie that improves the Pronghorns to 0-4-5, good for sixth place in the Canada West Prairie Division.

The Pronghorns head into a key weekend with a home-and-home series with the Mount Royal University Cougars. The first game is Saturday in Calgary at 1 p.m. The rematch is at the U of L Stadium Sunday at noon.

Sunday’s game is the Pronghorns final home game of the regular season. The team is in Winnipeg Oct. 18 and 19 to face the Wesmen to wrap up league schedule.

Musk, a second-year Lethbridge native, was solid on the defensive side of the ball as the Pronghorns hosted the Mount Royal University Cougars Thursday and the Calgary Dinos Sunday afternoon at the U of L Stadium.

Musk was responsible for shutting down the top players in the Canada West against the Cougars.

Playing mostly as a defensive midfielder, Musk has started all 12 games this season and has become an important member of the Pronghorn defensive structure.

The 0-10-2 Pronghorns have a bye this week and will conclude the 2019 Canada West season Oct. 19 and 20, travelling to Edmonton to face the Alberta Golden Bears and MacEwan Griffins.
