Horns hockey hosting Alberta

The University of Lethbridge Pronghorns men’s and women’s hockey teams will face defending Canada West champions this weekend.

The Horns men will do it at home as they host the Alberta Golden Bears in Canada West play tonight at 7 p.m. at Nicholas Sheran Arena. The rematch is at 7 p.m. Saturday, also at Nicholas Sheran Arena.

The women are in Edmonton to face the Pandas tonight and Saturday.

The 3-3-0 Pronghorns men had a three game winning streak snapped last weekend in Saskatoon, dropping a pair of games to the Saskatchewan Huskies.

The Pronghorns are led by third-year defenceman Dallas Valentine with six points on a goal and five assists. Brooks Maxwell and first-year Kyle Gordan each have five points.

Facing a nationally-ranked team for the first time this season, the Pronghorns women travel to Edmonton to face the defending Canada West Champion and U SPORTS fourth-ranked Alberta Pandas. Tonight’s game is 7 p.m. Saturday’s game goes at 2 p.m.

Picking up four points last weekend with a shootout loss and regulation win over the Saskatchewan Huskies, the Pronghorns (4-1-0-1) have earned points in five of six games.

Kyra Greig and Alli Borrow have been the Pronghorns offensive leaders through six games. Greig has three goals and two assists, while Borrow sits with five helpers.
