Lethbridge rink topped in tie breaker
The Team Scheidegger rink fell short of the quarter-finals at the first stop on the Grand Slam of Curling tour.
The Lethbridge Curling Club rink of third Carey-Anne McTaggart, second Jessie Haughian and lead Kristie Moore with skip Amber Holland filling in for Casey Scheidegger were defeated 7-3 by Satsuki Fujisawa in the tie breaker Saturday in North Bay, Ont.
The Lethbridge rink went 2-2 in the round-robin portion.
Holland, the winner of the 2008 Players’ Championship is subbing for Scheidegger, who is expecting her second child.
Regina’s Matt Dunstone beat Brad Gushue of St. John’s N.L., 8-5 on Sunday to capture the Masters men’s title for his first victory on the Grand Slam of Curling tour.
On the women’s side, Tracy Fleury of East St. Paul, Man., downed Japan’s Sayaka Yoshimura 7-5 to win this stop on the tour.
The Masters is the first of six Grand Slam of Curling events on the 2019-20 schedule.
