Willow Creek Cobras to host South final Saturday

The Claresholm Willow Creek Cobras are headed to the Football Alberta South Region final.

The Cobras blanked the Canmore Wolverines 53-0 in the Tier IV provincial quarter-final Saturday in Claresholm.

Willow Creek’s Brad Van Herk caught eight passes for 136 yards and two touchdowns, while Ethan Perry ran for 75 yards on four carries and two touchdowns.

Perry also scored on a 52-yard fumble recovery.

The Cobras ground out 296 yards on 26 carries while holding the Wolverines to just 31 yards net offence.

Claresholm – ranked first in Tier IV – takes on the second-seeded Drumheller Titans Saturday at 1 p.m. in Claresholm.

The Titans beat the ninth-ranked Taber W.R. Myers Rebels 42-0 on Saturday.

In Tier II South Region semifinal play Saturday, the second-ranked Cardston Cougars were defeated 36-22 by the first-seeded Holy Trinity Academy Knights.
