The Coaldale Copperheads took four of six points in a three-game Heritage Junior Hockey League weekend.
The Copperheads downed the High River Flyers 4-3 Friday night, but fell 4-3 to the Cochrane Generals Saturday night at the Coaldale Sportsplex.
But Coaldale ended the weekend on a winning note with a 6-1 win over the Strathmore Wheatland Kings Sunday in Strathmore.
The 2-1 weekend puts the Copperheads at 10-6-1 and in third place in the Southern Division, one point behind the 11-5-1 Generals. The 17-0 Okotoks Bisons remain atop the league.
On Friday in High River Mason Sande, Tyler Anderson and Jason Creighton scored in the first period and Isaac Benoit added another in the third.
Sande and Creighton added an assist each and Brandyn Howg had two helpers.
Copperheads goaltender Broc Merkl stopped 38 of 41 shots in the win.
On Saturday at the Coaldale Sportsplex, the Generals scored three goals in the third to post the win.
Anderson scored twice for the Copperheads and Kaden Booth added the other.
Booth had an assist for two points and Ty Abbott had two assists.
Merkl made 20 saves in the loss.
Ethan Klemen scored twice in Sunday’s win in Strathmore. Howg, Benoit, Anderson and Jayden Bexte added singles for Coaldale.
Howg added two assists for a three-point afternoon. Creighton had three assists and Abbott had two assists.
Ethan Barrows stopped 19 of 20 shots in the win.
