The Lethbridge Hurricanes made a deal for a defenceman Monday.

The Canes acquired 2002-born Trevor Thurston from the Kamloops Blazers in exchange for a third-round draft pick in the 2021 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft.

Thurston, 17, was originally drafted in the fourth round by the Blazers in the 2017 WHL Bantam Draft. The product of North Delta, B.C., has appeared in eight games this season for Kamloops going pointless.

The six-foot-two, 190-pound left-shot defenceman spent the 2018-19 season with the Delta Hockey Academy Prep team in the CSSHL where he had seven goals and 24 points.

With the addition of the Thurston, the Hurricanes have 23 players on their roster including 13 forwards, eight defencemen and two goalies.
