Basketball got nothing but net as the University of Lethbridge named its Two Guys and a Pizza Place Pronghorn Athletes of the Week.
Taking home the Female Athlete of the Week award is Kacie Bosch, while Colton Gibb earns the men’s honour.
Helping the Pronghorns earn their fifth in in a row to improve to 5-1, Bosch combined to score 36 points in a sweep over the Manitoba Bisons in Canada West action at the 1st Choice Savings Centre.
On Friday night, the Chinook High School grad scored 12 points and nine assists, five rebounds and two steals in the Pronghorns 75-74 win over the Bisons.
Bosch led all scorers with 24 points on Saturday and was precise from long range hitting four of seven three point attempts. She grabbed another five rebounds in the 82-78 win over the Bisons.
Bosch leads the Pronghorns in scoring, averaging 14.5 points per game this season, while also averaging 5.8 rebound and 2.8 assists a game.
Gibb was his usual tenacious self in helping the Pronghorn team pick up a weekend against the Bisons.
In the weekend-opener, Gibb scored a team-high 19 points, shooting nine-for-12 from the field. He also chipped in with five rebounds, two steals and one assist in the Pronghorns razor thin loss, 101-99 to the Bisons.
On Saturday night Gibb scored another 13 points to help the Horns pick up their second win of the season with 84-79 decision. He also grabbed eight rebounds, two steals and one assists in the win.
In six games , Gibb is averaging 14.8 points per game to go along with seven rebounds and 1.7 steals a night.
Heading out on the road for the final two weekends of the first semester, the Pronghorns travel to Abbotsford, B.C. to face the Fraser Valley Cascades this weekend.
