The Coaldale Copperheads fell just short of a 2-0 weekend on the road.
The Copperheads managed to get off to a winning start with a 4-2 win over the Mountainview Colts Saturday night in Heritage Junior Hockey League play in Didsbury, but were edged 6-5 by the Rocky Rams Sunday afternoon.
The .500 weekend puts the Copperheads at 13-7-1 and in third place in the Southern Division, two points behind the Cochrane Generals.
Isaac Benoit netted the hat trick for the Copperheads in Saturday’s win over the Colts. Brandyn Howg added the other Coaldale goal.
Jason Creighton added two assists and goaltender Ethan Barrows stopped 35 of 37 shots.
On Sunday, the Copperheads scored two goals late in the third, but fell one shy of the equalizer after the Rams opened up a 6-3 lead 3:01 into the third.
Jedd Horvath and Alex Saworski scored the late third-period goals for the Copperheads.
Tyler Anderson, Ethan Klemen and Creighton scored the other Coaldale goals.
Saworski added two assists for a three-point game. Anderson and Klemen added one assist each.
Broc Merkl made 35 saves.
The Copperheads travel to Airdrie Friday to take on the Thunder and are back at the Coaldale Sportsplex Saturday night at 8:30 p.m. against the Lomond Lakers.
